Shoulder Duster Earrings – JAC Challenge
Shoulder duster earrings – JAC Challenge
The August challenge (and the one for September) from the Jewelry Artisans Community was to make shoulder duster earrings.
I myself always love to wear longer earrings and I have made a lot of earrings that could fit the challenge. I decided to accept this challenge and made a new pair for it, they have so much sparkle and so much movement, they are both fun to wear and to look at.
Although the trend is going down again, I think every woman should have at least 1 pair of shoulder duster earrings.
They really are elegant and give interest to the face, you can still see them at special occasions. They can be real statement earrings, a plain chain with a single bead or rich with beads, full of glamour that can dress up any outfit.

The challenge went slow this time, by the time I started to write this post only 2 entries where shown. From Cat and from me. I do hope that the others are joining us in this months challenge.
These are the ones Cat from Cat’s Wire made, we all could see this pattern as a bracelet or as a collier.
Here’s my entry for which the idea developed from a messed up filled netting bangle that I got tired of.
Dawn, from Jewelry By Dawn, joined us, she made some gorgeous wirewrapped leaves.
Copper wire woven fall leaves in graduating sizes from smallest to largest. At 5.5 inches in length, they definitely dust the shoulders!
As last I want to show you the earrings that I made for this challenge.
The first photo is a collage of step by step photo’s from the project.
The earrings are made from silver plated non tarnish artistic wire, some aluminium wire, several pieces of thin chains, a few crystals, silver plated filigree beads and some fresh water pearls. They are 13,5 cm (5,3 inches) long and together they weigh 21,5 grams.
After I made the silver plated earrings I also made a pair with seafoam green glass beads, bronze findings and gunmetal wire.
Feel free to visit the websites from the others and most of all feel free to share this article or leave a comment to share your idea about shoulder duster earrings.

I don’t wear shoulder dusters myself because they get tangled up in my long hair too easily, but I would wear all of these in a heartbeat!
*headdesk* Make that “I would wear”. Too early 😉
Thank you Cat, I editted the comment for you.
I think I need an “edit” button. 😉
Ack! Were, not we’re!
While there may not have been a lot of entries, I sure do love the ones that we had this month. All we’re so glamorous and elegant.
Great blog post, Carina – love the collage!
Thank you Dawn for the comment and the compliment.
I love making collages and use them on my Instagram most of the time.
Now I’m of looking at your blogpost. 🙂
