One of a kind vs. repeating a design.

Is what this months blog carnival from Jewelry Artisans Community is about.
For me One of a kind means that you have made it only once, and when you take a look in my galeries you will see that most of my jewelry pieces are made only once.

Why all my pieces are different, not only in style but also in technique and the materials I have used, well I like to try out new things every now and then so you can find chain maille, wire wrapping, bead weaving and bead stringing all mixed in my galeries.
I like to jump back and forth between the styles and techniques and sometimes combine them together.

There are some design that I repeated several times, mostly in a series, everytime with a different colour bead in it or so. I have a few of them in my webshop where you can see them grouped together.
Most of the pieces that I made in series can be found in my shop between my earrings, my beadies, some of the bracelets and a few between my pendants.

Here are a few samples of my one of a kind pieces.

I could go on and on about all the diferent pieces I made over the years but I think you can best go and look for your selves. You can find all my work in my galeries.

I will add the links from our other JAC members when available, so you can read their view on “one of a kind vs. repeating a design.”

  1. I want to thank you for the exceptional post!! I surely liked every bit of it. Ive bookmarked your internet internet site so I can take a appear at the latest articles you post later on.

  2. Wow, so many beautiful pieces! I love all of them!

I enjoy making the same design several times on my more basic pieces. I learn a lot by recreating something and often these are made to order, so I already know someone is going to be enjoying it. Also, it helps me save energy and time because I only need to do photography, pricing etc once but people (which includes myself 😉 ) can keep enjoying this for a longer period of time.

When I get bored with a design I take it off-line and make others. I do enjoy making some unique pieces additionally, but generally I prefer the ones that take less time to make, I can get so frustrated with unfinished projects! 😛

    1. Thank you Laurien, for your comment.
I too prefer the ones that take less time to make.
The more time consuming projects I mostly make when I have 1 or more days of from work.
So I can keep working on them and I don’t have to stop to go to work.

    1. You are right about that one, I’m working on a 3 row bracelet right now that is originaly from a 1 row tutorial.
Have been beading all day, the base 8/o herringbone with clasp is done.
Now I need to figure out where I place the crystal embellishments.
      🙂
