Lovely and sweet, word art tag

This weeks assignment was a fun one, we had to make something using word art, which is more often used in journaling or in mixed media projects.
I made a card using this technique for a greeting card once before, this time I used it to make a tag. A wonderful technique for a novice because you can’t go wrong, it did take a bit more time then usual because of the layers you keep adding.

I used a suitcase label tag die and made it from craft paper with in the centre an off white card which I sponged around the edges with Walnut Stain ink. With the same ink I gave it a few coffee stains using a stencil. I glued a few pieces of a newspaper on it in a few places to give the tag a bit more body. By that time I didn’t know how to continue so I left it for a day or so.

After a day or so I decided to stamp and cut out the little girl, coloured her in with watercolour brush markers by putting the colour on a laminated white sheet first and picking up the colour with a brush.
I didn’t use plain water to colour her in but used some shimmer mist. I have cut out a few more of the girls and stacked them together to give her some dimension.
The girl isn’t neatly coloured because I had to use my non dominant hand but I still like how she turned out.

Tip! Shimmer mist can easily be made by yourself, you can use perfect pearls, Nuvo Shimmer Powders or any sort of Mica. You can even use eyeshadows if the have a high shine in them. Just put some water, or alcohol in a spray bottle and ad the powders till you are satisfied with the shimmer.

When I added the girl to the tag I still missed something so I did a search internet for word art inspiration and after a while I found a website where you can make “word clouds” so I choose a heart, filled in a few words in the program changed the font and clicked create. I then printed the image with my laser printer and added some black foil to give the tekst some shine. Uses one of my heart dies to cut it out and sponged the edges again with the Walnut Stain ink.

It now was looking better so I started layering and shuffling everything till I was satisfied and then I glued everything in place.
Added a few off white cup flower sequins with some Nuvo drops in the center and to finish it off, I added the sentiment on with a few pieces of embossed tape. On he back of this word art tag I also added a off white card to write the message on.

I have a list of the materials I used at my HA Blog, It is written in dutch with more details in there for when you want to know more and all the measurements. To translate it to english or any other language you can use “Google Translate”

Feel free to leave a comment here, on my other blog or on the posts of the other DT members. It is highly appreciated.
