Amethyst is the february birthstone and the gem for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries,
Its colour is as unique as it is seductive, and this gemstone of all gemstones is said to protect its wearer against seduction. It has a gorgeous colour going from violet to purple and can change colour when heated.
A large number of miraculous powers are attributed to the amethyst in all sorts of cultures.
It was said to protect crops against tempests and locusts, bring good fortune in war and in the hunt, drive out evil spirits and inspire the intellect.
The Russian Empress Catherine the Great was so fond of the februari birthstone that she send thousends of miners to the Urals to look for it.

For me the stone is hard to resist because I’m born in february.

I do love amethysts, the colour is just so beautiful! A friend of mine claimed to use it against migraines with succes. I tried it and never had a migraine since, but of course I have no idea if that’s because of the stone 😉
I do love purple indeed, though for clothes I wear mostly black.
When that is true about the amethist I will make myself a new pendant to wear everyday.
