~*~ August 2012 – JAC Theme "Show your Stash" ~*~
Each month some of the members of the Jewelry Artisans Community make a blogpost on the same subject. This time they ask to show your stash.
Mine grew over the years so I made photo’s of a part of them. 🙂
This is the story:
A few years ago I bought myself a large cupboard.
These are originally used in printing offices and so.
They contained lead letters used to print newspapers and magazines.
I have turned it into a bead cupboard but I have to give you a small warning to go with cupboards like these.
You can take out all the drawers and because of that it is best to bolt it to a wall.
I didn’t and one day the whole cupboard, with drawers with beads and stones in it landed on top of me as I was sitting in front of it putting away some new beads in it.
It took me half an hour to free myself from under the drawers. Of course I had to be alone at home that day. 🙁
Because all my beads where scattered over the attic I had to fill all the drawers again.
This time I placed the heavy materials on the bottom and the lighter ones on top.
This how far I got so far, …………………….. be sure to keep a towel and or a bucket nearby. 😀

The gemstones and fresh water pearls I collected over the years. As you can see there is still room for some more. 🙂
Silver plated, tibet silver and base metal charms, bead-caps, spacer beads.
Glass pearls.
Glass and crystal beads.
This is not all, I haven’t placed everything into the cupboard yet and I didn’t make photo’s of the rest of my findings, chainmaille rings and seed beads.
Go try and see the post of the other members. I will post the links as soon as I get them.

Carina…..you are so organized….all my stuff is so messy….and scattered…i’ve cleaned up but it goes back to choas pretty quick. I hope to be as organized as you some day!
Don’t worry, that cupboard is the only organised thing in my house, the rest is total chaos!!! 😀
Holy cow! That is an incredible way to organize your stash. What a great use for that cabinet.
Hope you weren’t hurt when it fell on you – that must have been frightening at the time.
I didn’t get hurt, thanks for asking, I must admit I had a short panic attack then, but then I realised I had my cell phone in my pocket.
So I started to call my in-laws, not home of course,
So I started to move all the drawers to the sides, by the time I had freed myself from 15 drawers filled with glass beads, metals and stones my boyfriend got home.
He was completely shocked by the rampage I created. 😀
Ooops, sorry, Carina… GFC is “Google Friend Connect” for followers. I always call it that, but maybe nobody realizes what I’m talking about LOL.
I already thought it had to be Google Friend Connect. hahahahaa
That is the coolest stash ever!! Love it!!
*mrgreen*
Thank you, now I have at least one cool thing. 😛
Carina, I love those wooden cabinets, but the incident you described is precisely why I have resisted buying one. I use instead some plastic cabinets which sit on top of my desk. They are filled with small drawers intended for sorting hardware (like nails, screws, etc.) I can stack them if necessary, and they can be attached to a wall also. But I would love a custom cabinet some day. Oh well, there is no one perfect solution… I find organizing and sorting our treasures regularly is a good way to keep them fresh in our minds and inspiring us! Enjoying your blog and following on GFC.
When my attic is cleared of all the other cluther I will be moving the cabinet to the wall and then it will be bolted to it, for extra security.
the advantage of these cupboards is that a lot goes in them and you can take the drawers out.
The ones you have I had too, a few from plastic and two from iron with plastic boxes in them.
** 1 question I’m breaking my head over this one, I don’t know the term GFC, help me out please ? 😀
Holy mackerel!!!! I’m speechless. And jealous.
I don’t feel so bad anymore… I do envy you your typsetting cupboard… I have something with cheap plastic drawers that bend when they get too heavy! (I fixed your link on the JAC site not sure why it didn’t work)
I could have just taken a pciture of the floor I work in too!
I used the plastic drawers and boxes too, in fact I still have the plastic boxes.
Do take a photo of your floor. 🙂
Didn’t the link work how strange …..
hahahahahaha, You haven’t seen the rest of my attic/atelier.
It looks as if a bomb exploded, the inside of the cupboard is the only neat uncluttered spot, the rest is total chaos. 😛
Wow, that looks great. I envy you, you are so tidy and everything looks so neat. I bet you find everything in an instant and don’t have to look for it for 10 minutes like me 😉
